COCKTAIL is a pop up cocktail bar designed by artist Zoe Williams and Co-curated with Lucie Akerman. Featuring films and outfits by Glasgow based artists Alberta Whittle & Emily Donnini and Bristol based artist Brin Frost.

Through COCKTAIL Williams is interested in creating an environment, which temporarily immerses its consumers in a sensory overload. Emotive symbols, colours and music are used to simultaneously seduce and repulse the audience. The space seeks to channel and challenge ideas of glamour both in terms of its glistening ideal and its darker, more ambiguous origins.

Zoe Williams-Brin Frost-Nat Cook

Norwich Castle Museum 14th May, 2011 5-10pm

Glasgow based artist Zoe Williams, is collaborating with artist Brin Frost, Bristol and photographer Nat Cook, London to stage 3 Tableau Vivant/still life compositions around Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery for the Museums at Night event. These compositions represent the launch of the Williams’ fictional fashion label The House of O that will incorporate models wearing specially designed clothing and fabrics by artist Brin Frost, lit and photographed by Natalie Cook.

A short film titled The House of O, reminiscent of a high fashion advertising campaign will play alongside the evening performances, focusing on the accessories worn by the models within the castle. The evening’s events will culminate with a tableau vivant finale performed on the castle green.

Williams project for Museums at Night is a continuation of her work for A Skvader, an exhibition marking the Centenary of the Contemporary Arts Society in association with OUTPOST and Kaavous-Bhoyroo at Norwich Castle. Williams was the first of 3 artists selected from the OUTPOST artist membership to show new work on the specially designed OUTPOST platform in December 2010. A Skvader is still on show in the Timothy Gurney Gallery and currently hosting a new work by Matthew Noel-Tod on the platform.

A SKVADER
Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery

Opening Event: Saturday 11 Dec, 2 – 4.30 pm

To celebrate a centenary of the Contemporary Art Society, A Skvader will open with works by OUTPOST artist member, Zoe Williams, alongside Kaavous Bhoyroo selected artists: Coco Crampton, Robert Filby, Simon Liddiment and Krzysztof Fijalkowski as well as works selected by Lawrence Leaman and Alex Sainsbury from Norwich Castle Museum’s Collection.

For A Skvader OUTPOST has selected three artists members (Zoe Williams, Simon Davenport, Matthew Noel-Tod) who will be showing on a stylised platform within the Timothy Gurney Gallery.

The opening will be accompanied by a series of talks from Lucy Byatt (Contemporary Art Society), Harriet Godwin & Andrew Moore (Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery), Jacques Rogers (OUTPOST), Kaavous Clayton (Kaavous – Bhoyroo), Alex Sainsbury & Lawrence Leaman, Krzysztof Fijalkowski, David Waterhouse & Zoe Williams
